Authors asked to submit book proposals

“Our series will celebrate the contributions of women innovators in the arts, sciences, politics, business, and health sciences.”

Texas Woman’s University has launched an interdisciplinary book series highlighting the accomplishments of courageous women. The TWU Book Series—Pioneering Women: Women Who Blazed Trails and Women Who Lead—has been developed in coordination with Texas A&M University Press, which will assist in peer reviews and printing. The university aims to publish two books a year in the series.

“With this series, we will promote the stories of leading women who have often been overlooked,” said Claire Sahlin, interim dean of the TWU Graduate School and chair of the TWU Book Series editorial committee. “Our series will celebrate the contributions of women innovators in the arts, sciences, politics, business, and health sciences.”

Authors are asked to submit book proposals for consideration. The series is not limited to scholarly works. The editorial committee welcomes monographs, edited collections, biographies and memoirs, illustrated volumes, historical studies, and theoretical and contemporary analyses.

The TWU Book Series falls under the auspices of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership and is funded through a gift by former TWU Regent Nancy Paup and her husband, Thaddeus, both of whom are long-time supporters and donors to Texas Woman’s University. The Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership at Texas Woman’s University is dedicated to preparing more women to take on successful roles in business and public service. Through the institute’s three specialized centers—Center for Student Leadership, Center for Women Entrepreneurs, and Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy—women get the education to establish careers as successful C-suite executives, the skills for building entrepreneurial businesses, and the framework needed to run for public office.
