Texas offers up a rich and varied buffet of reading series across the state, beginning each September. Readers, this is by no means a complete representation of the many reading series in Texas; it is the information available at press time. As the remaining series make their season announcements, we’ll cover it here at Lone Star Lit. This is what we know so far:
Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center, Kyle, and Texas State University Series, San Marcos
Texas State University readings are located in Flowers Hall, Room 230. Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center readings are held at the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center, a national literary landmark, in Kyle. The series are free and open to the public.

The UNT Visiting Writers Series brings nationally and internationally renowned authors to campus for readings and book signings. These readings are held on campus. All events are free and open to the public.

Friends of the SMU Libraries’ Authors LIVE!, Dallas
The Friends of the SMU Libraries, originally founded in 1970 as Colophon, is an organization dedicated to promoting and enriching the resources, services and operations of the seven SMU Libraries. Events are usually held at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Lectures are free and open to the public; receptions are ticketed.

The Corpus Christi literary Reading series is a grass roots reading series that began in 1987. Events are held at the Art Museum of South Texas. Readings are ticketed and open to the public. Patrons can attend the author receptions.
